Sydney’s Finest National Parks!

The glorious Blue Mountains...

The glorious Blue Mountains…

For all visitors, the National Parks in and around the city of Sydney offer a magical natural experience. Rich, dense and intensely panoramic, there are plenty of amazing Australian landscapes to explore. Though this list is by no means exhaustive, here is a list of a few of our favourite National Parks around Sydney!

The Blue Mountains National Park. Just an hour and a bit outside of the city, the Blue Mountains National Park is an incomparable tourist attraction. The natural beauty is truly astounding, offering visitors a glimpse of Australia’s forest life. There’s plenty to see and do, and lots of opportunities for camping, hiking and picnicking. Katoomba’s Three Sisters are a worthwhile stop-over, if you’re in the area. But an overnight stay is ideal, as there’s a lot to explore!

The Lane Cove National Park. A picnic spot well known to many Sydneysiders, the Lane Cove National Park is a short drive from the city centre (twenty to thirty minutes). The glorious Lane Cove River offers visitors the chance to canoe and camp along the river’s edge, making it the perfect place for either a daytrip or an overnight stay. After you’re done enjoying the river, check out the surrounding scrub. In the verdant forest, you’ll get to experience local flora and fauna up close and personal (bird-watchers will love this area).

The Sydney Harbour National Park. It’s easy to be drawn in by the urban beauty of Sydney’s iconic foreshore area. But besides the Harbour Bridge and Opera House, the harbour area is a prime example of Sydney’s relatively untouched natural glory. The Sydney Harbour National Park is a stunning park which is comprised of the foreshore area and the local islands. In this park, you’ll find sandy beaches, intimate inlets and imposing cliffs. There are also many Aboriginal sites in the region, offering tourists a glimpse into Australia’s ancient past.

So keep these suggestions in mind, and take the time to explore Sydney’s many National Parks. You won’t regret it!
