So you’ve grown tired of the Big Smoke of Sydney, you’ve tried all the usual haunts and swum at every beach from Bondi to Balmoral and want to try something a bit different? How about a day trip up to Palm Beach, this beautiful spot is a 45 minute scenic drive from the city (a slightly longer bus ride on the L90) and is a must-see on any visit to Sydney. This little piece of paradise is home to the rich and famous and with its beautiful beaches, relaxed coastal vibe and its role as the setting of Home and Away’s Summer Bay it’s no wonder why. It feels like a whole world away and the drive is spectacular. It’s like stumbling into a little piece of paradise where everyone is friendlier, operating in holiday mode, the sand more white and ocean more blue.

Bilgola Beach with its majestic cliffs and ocean pool is a standout. After a quick dip why don’t you stop by Avalon for some of the delicious food on offer with an emphasis on organic food and fresh produce. There are also a number of popular clothing boutiques that have popped up and which stock some of the best in Australian and International fashion. Whether you want to spend your time eating fish and chips on the beach or do the tiring but picturesque walk up to Barrenjoey lighthouse, there’s something for everyone.

The Boathouse that sits over the sleepy backwaters of Pittwater with its floral displays is a popular lunchtime destination, or, if you feel like something more alcoholic why not try the new Cranky Fins bar, bought to you by the owners of the trendy Bucket List in Bondi
