A Pedestrian’s Guide To Sydney City!

3846937463_c033148d4b_bWalking around Sydney is one of the very best ways to acquaint yourself with the flavour and vibe of the city itself. By forging your own path through the metropolitan area, you might stumble across some fantastic hidden gems. So check out everything Sydney has to offer, and keep our walking guide in mind!

Start at the Town Hall Steps. The Town Hall is the quintessential meeting place for all Sydneysiders. From there, almost any city precinct can easily be reached. But for the purposes of our tour, we’ll make our way up Park Street and into Hyde Park. In the western segment of the lush oasis, visitors will find the famous ANZAC Memorial. The art deco structure is one-of-a-kind and features truly impressive stone work.

Visit St. Mary’s Cathedral. Walk through Hyde Park and catch a glimpse of impressive flowers and tropical plants. The shady walkway is the perfect place for an amble and a quick pic. Once you reach the bronze fountain (which is a city landmark), look to the right and you can’t miss the imposing St. Mary’s Cathedral. Inside, guests are treated to a marvellous sight; a work of absolute devotion and dedication, the cathedral’s colonnades and intricate stained-glass windows are a reminder of the Church’s long history in Australia.

Walk along William Street and onto Stanley Street. William Street and the King’s Cross precinct are iconic social hot-spots. Look out over William Street and grab an unencumbered view of the famous Coca Cola sign. Walk a little further along, towards Oxford Street, and pretty soon you’ll reach Stanley Street. Many years ago, Stanley Street was home to one of the city’s most bustling Italian-Australian communities. But now, after years of gentrification and cultural change, only a few bona fide cafes remain. Grab a street facing table at Bill & Toni’s and enjoy your short black with a chocolate cannolo.
